The Young Leadership Program is designed for young deputy ministers of Eurasian and Baltic states, in order to provide a deep insight to how internal processes in the US government system work and what the role of governmental authorities is in economic processes.
The program takes place over a week-long visit to the United States, including training events led by high-level US officials and analytical community representatives that provide deeper insight into the interaction between state and business. At the conclusion of the program, the participants submit recommendations and conclusions regarding the implementation of their assigned thematic area in their countries.
The main goal of the program is to help the participants to gain new instruments and to broaden their networking for the development of economic relations between their countries and the U.S. This year Program will be focused on innovations, knowledge-driven economy and tech development.
The first StrategEast Young Leadership Program was held in 2018 with the participation of a group of deputy ministers: First Deputy Minister of Information Technologies and Communications of Uzbekistan Olimjon Umarov, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of the Republic of Moldova Tatiana Molcean, Deputy Minister of Energy of the Republic of Belarus Vadim Zakrevsky; Vice Minister of Environment of the Republic of Lithuania Martynas Norbutas; Deputy Minister of Energy and Coal Industry on European Integration of Ukraine Nataliya Boyko, Head of International Relations at the President’s office of the Republic of Tajikistan Manuchehr Hokimzoda; Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia Nino Tandilashvili, and Deputy Minister of Culture, Information and Tourism of Kyrgyzstan Azamat Zhamankulov.
The second StrategEast Young Leadership Program took place in 2019 with the participation of Murod Saidzoda (Head of Department of European and American Countries, MFA Tajikistan); Edmunds Belskis (Deputy State Secretary, Ministry of Environmental Protection and Regional Development, Latvia); Carolina Perebinos (State Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Moldova); Timur Toktabayev (Deputy Minister of Investment and Development, Kazakhstan); Farizshokh Usmanov (Deputy Chairman of Trade and Industry Chamber of Uzbekistan); Lasha Khutsishvili (Deputy Minister of Finance of Georgia); Daniiar Imanaliev (Head of Strategic development, economics and finance of the Administration of President, Kyrgyzstan).
During the program, the Deputy Ministers met with government officials, and representatives of civil society and the private sector. The deputy ministers participate in meetings and trainings led by high-level U.S. officials and think tank representatives. The goal of the program is to educate the young officials about how the U.S. government works internally and the role government authorities play in economic processes.
