The governments of Germany and Uzbekistan signed an agreement on financial cooperation for 12.3 million euros for the period 2017 – 2018 on the basis of the protocol of intergovernmental negotiations held on 19 July 2017 in Berlin. The signing of the agreement “On financial cooperation between the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany and the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan for the period 2017 – 2018” for the amount of 12.3 million euro was held on 28 March 2018 in the National Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
On behalf of the German government, the documents were signed by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Germany to Uzbekistan Mr. Gunter Overfield, on behalf of the Government of Uzbekistan – Deputy Chairman of the Investment Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan Mr. Shukhrat Vafayev.
The signed agreement on financial cooperation envisages implementation of projects in the field of public health: modernization of multidisciplinary medical centers and equipping of a special laboratory within the framework of the project to combat tuberculosis in the regions of the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as granting the necessary accompanying activities for the implementation and maintenance of the project.
Since the beginning of the establishment of bilateral cooperation to promote development in 1993, the amount of funds allocated by the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany in the framework of technical and financial cooperation to date reached over 341 million euros.
