Employees of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Brussels (Belgium) held talks with the general executive director of the European Chamber of Commerce Eurochambers (ETPP) Arnaldo Abruzzini and the adviser of the chamber for work with the CIS countries Gundars Strautmanis.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, the parties discussed the ways of investment, technological and innovative cooperation between Eurochambers and Uzbekistan, including the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan, individual regions and enterprises.
At the meeting, the leaders of Eurochambers said the growing interest among European business circles towards large-scale political and socio-economic reforms under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, which allows to re-evaluate the prospects for practical cooperation. Among the possible areas of cooperation were the effective use of natural resources, alternative energy, renewable energy sources.
The parties reached an agreement on establishing a systemic interaction between the chambers of commerce and industry of Eurochambres and Uzbekistan to conduct a wide range of activities from mutual visits to regular discussions including videoconference for their members, as well as negotiations on thematic areas of cooperation.
On the same day, the Uzbek officials met with the chairman of the Brussels Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BECI) Olivier Villock.
Following the negotiations, an agreement was reached to hold a meeting with representatives of major business circles and companies of the city of Brussel within the framework of the forthcoming visit to the Benelux countries of a delegation of khokimiyats of Samarkand and Namangan regions, as well as Uzeltehsanoat.
During the conversation, representatives of the Brussels business showed interest in organizing the import of food products from Uzbekistan (honey, dried fruits), textile products (clothes, cotton and lint-free bed linen), pharmaceuticals, electrical engineering, other areas of interaction.
