Uzbekistan and the European Union will start the talks on agreement on expanded partnership and cooperation since November 23, the Foreign Ministry of Uzbekistan said.
The agreement was reached following the EU-Uzbekistan Cooperation Council meeting in Brussels. The new document will replace the bilateral agreement on partnership and cooperation of 1999.
Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov visited Brussels from November 21-24 to attend the EU-Uzbekistan Cooperation Council and EU-Central Asia Meeting.
In July the EU Council has endorsed start of the talks with Uzbekistan on expanded partnership and cooperation. The EU Council believes this agreement will help creation of favorable business and investment environment, will support cooperation in addressing such global challenges as climate change, corruption, fight against terrorism.
