Uzbekistan, EBRD plan projects for over $1 billion

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and EBRD President Suma Chakrabarti discussed joint projects for more than $1 billion, the president’s press service reports.

The projects in development of rural infrastructure, housing construction, modernization of energy facilities and public utilities, business support for over $1 billion are under consideration. Approval of projects up to $600 million is expected in the next few months.

President Mirziyoyev praised a high level of cooperation between Uzbekistan and EBRD.

The EBRD Resident expressed readiness of the Bank for further expansion of cooperation to support large-scale transformations and strengthen regional cooperation.

EBRD provided credit lines for more than $190 million to finance projects aimed to support entrepreneurship.

Development of the EBRD cooperation strategy for Uzbekistan nears completion. It should be adopted this September.

EBRD resumed its activities in Tashkent since November 2017. It plans to set up its branches in regions of the country.
