Uzbekistan and leading US companies sign agreements worth $5 billion

Uzbekistan and leading US companies signed agreements worth about US$5 billion, Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev stated during a meeting with US President Donald Trump.

President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with the President of the United States of America Donald Trump at the White House on 16 May.

During the meeting, US President Trump said that Uzbekistan is an important state, a strategic partner for the US in many areas, including trade.

He underlined that the US are investing in Uzbekistan. Trump added that Uzbekistan is buying various equipment from the United States, including military equipment.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev said that the United States always supported the independence and sovereignty of Uzbekistan. He added that after the presidential elections in the US and Uzbekistan, bilateral relations have risen to a new level.

Uzbek leader stressed that over the past year and a half, the investment component of cooperation between the countries has changed significantly. According to him, Uzbekistan buys a lot of technologies and equipment from America.

As part of this historic visit, we have already signed agreements with the leading US companies for about US$5 billion, President Shavkat Mirzieyev said.

“The name of the Joint Statement adopted today “Uzbekistan and the United States of America: the beginning of a new era of strategic partnership” speaks for itself, testifies to our aspirations aimed at a long-term perspective,” the head of Uzbekistan noted.
