UN’s FAO to open office in Kazakhstan

President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev signed the law on ratification of the agreement on establishment of the bureau for relations and partnership of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in the country.

The agreement notes that FAO appoints an internationally recruited head of office and assigns staff that may be required to assist execution of functions.

The government of Kazakhstan provides premises, equipment, office furniture and other supplies for the work of the office as well as facilitates the delivery of goods and any items imported by FAO.

For effective performance, the head of the office has direct access to all relevant levels of policy development and planning in the government directly or indirectly related to the agriculture, fisheries and forestry sectors, as well as other sectors of the country’s economy related to these areas.
