Ukraine, EU to sign memorandum on macro-financial aid worth EUR 1 bln

On Thursday, September 13, Ukraine and the European Union will sign a memorandum of understanding regarding the allocation of EUR 1 billion in loans of macro-financial assistance to Kyiv.

Vice-President of the European Commission for the Euro, Social Dialogue, Financial Stability, Financial Services and Capital Markets Union Valdis Dombrovskis will take part in the signing ceremony, Ukrinform’s correspondent in Brussels reported.

According to the program of his visit to Kyiv on September 13-14, Dombrovskis will also meet with Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman and Acting Finance Minister Oksana Markarova.

In addition, he will participate in the annual meeting of the Yalta European Strategy (YES).

As Ukrinform reported, on March 9, 2018, the European Commission approved a decision on the launch of a new macro-financial assistance programme for Ukraine worth up to EUR 1 billion of loans. This assistance is aimed at supporting Ukraine’s economic stability and structural reforms.
