UK to expand technical assistance programs to Ukraine

Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Ukraine Melinda Simmons handed over copies of her credentials to Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Olena Zerkal, and confirmed the UK’s readiness to expand and diversify technical assistance programs to Ukraine.

“The UK is keen to expand and diversify its technical assistance programs to Ukraine with a particular focus on the development of regions affected by Russian aggression,” the ambassador stressed.

According to the press service of the Foreign Ministry, the British diplomat reaffirmed the UK Government’s steadfast position on political and practical support for Ukraine, primarily on the issue of resolving the situation in Donbas caused by Russian aggression.

For her part, Olena Zerkal thanked Great Britain for its clear position regarding the lack of grounds for Russia’s return to the Group of Seven and invited the British side to work more closely on decentralization in Ukraine and the development of local communities.
