UK ready to expand trade and investment cooperation with Kazakhstan

Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan Kairat Abdrakhmanov met UK Minister of State for Trade Policy George Hollingbery, aho arrived in Astana to attend the session of Kazakhstan-UK intergovernmental commission for trade and economic cooperation.

The sides reaffirmed commitment to further development of trade and investment cooperation, the Foreign Ministry said.

George Hollingbery expressed readiness of the UK to facilitate expansion of trade and investment cooperation.

The sides agreed to develop multifaceted cooperation within the existing and new mechanisms of bilateral political and economic cooperation.

The bilateral trade between the countries in 2017 stood at $1.286 billion, including $927 million export and $359 million import.

For 7 months of 2018, bilateral trade amounted to $743.4 million, including $490 million export and $253 million import.

Foreign direct investments from the UK to Kazakhstan from 2005 through the first quarter of 2018 amounted to $12.88 billion. The total number of registered joint ventures made 669.
