The United Kingdom has invested over $27 billion in the economy of Azerbaijan.
Economy Minister Shahin Mustafayev announced about this at a meeting with Minister of State for Trade and Export Promotion of the United Kingdom, co-chair of Joint Intergovernmental Commission (JIC) Baroness Rona Fairhead, the economy ministry reported. He said that the UK ranks first among foreign investors in Azerbaijan.
The two countries, according to Mustafayev, attach great importance to bilateral relations and successfully cooperate in various directions of the economy. He stressed that at present over 500 companies with British capital operate in Azerbaijan.
The minister cited BP, which participates in seven oil and gas projects, including the Southern Gas Corridor and the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline, as an example of the successful activities of British companies in Azerbaijan.
The trade with the UK in January-November 2017 amounted to $ 240.46 million, of which nearly $ 30 million fell on the export of Azerbaijani products, according to the State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan.
