Swedish company to invest over 600.000 euros in expanding its potato starch production in Latvia

The Swedish-owned Latvian potato starch maker Aloja Starkelsen plans to invest EUR 614,999 in construction of a new warehouse and development of the territory, reports LETA, according to information published on the Internet website of the Procurement Supervision Bureau.

A tender has been announced for the projects. The winner of the tender is Buvniecibas Dizaina Risinajumi who will conduct the works for EUR 614,999. Earlier the company planned to invest EUR 600,000 in the project. The investment plan should be completed by May 31, 2018. The project will be co-financed by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD).

As reported, Aloja-Starkelsen generated EUR 7.621 million in turnover in the past financial year from September 1, 2015, to August 31, 2016, and increased its profit 20.8% to EUR 287,850, according to Firmas.lv business information website. Founded in 1991, Aloja-Starkelsen is 97.93-percent owned by Swedish company Sveriges Starkelseproducenter Forening.
