Speaking at the webinar Digital CAREC Virtual Policy Dialogue: Digital FDI Ecosystem, Anatoly Motkin, StrategEast President offered his views on policy recommendations aimed at attracting investment in the digital economy and how the cross-regional collaboration fosters to the ecosystem growth.
Mr. Motkin shared what has to be done to attract the leading international IT companies to the CAREC countries to speed up the regional integration, address the issue of digital skills lack, foster investment in the tech sector, and raise the venture capital.
By addressing these isues, the CAREC region would attract more foreign direct investments and foster inclusive growth.
An open dialogue session embraced distinguished discussants – Norbert Funke, Director, IMF, CCAMTAC; Soo Hyun Kim, Economic Affairs Officer, UNESCAP; Mikhail Bunchuk, Senior Digital Development Specialist, the World Bank, Central Asia Regional Office; John Beirne, Vice-Chair of Research and Senior Research Fellow, ADBI; Syed Hassan Alsagoff, Manager of Science, Technology and Innovation Devision at Cooperation and Capacity Development Department at the Islamic Development Bank; Imed Drine Alsagoff, Lead Economist for MENA and Europe at the Islamic Development Bank.
