On May 7, 2019, StrategEast President Anatoly Motkin presented the Westernization Award for President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev. The Award was presented to Javlon Vakhabov, Ambassador of Uzbekistan to the U.S in Washington.
President Mirziyoyev was nominated for the Economic Westernization Award. He had transformed Uzbekistan by bringing equal opportunities and taking serious steps in terms of Uzbekistan economic development – liberalization of currency regulations, improvement of relations with Uzbekistan’s decision-making processes, encouraged political competition and strengthened civil society.
