On March 15, StrategEast jointly with the USAID Future Growth Initiative held a presentation of “The Billion in the Distance: Central Asian IT Exports and Strategies for Growing Them” report. The presentation and panel discussion took place in Dushanbe at the State Business Incubator of Tajikistan.
The panelists included Rovshan Rahimov, Regional Director for Central Asia and Eastern Europe at StrategEast; Sukhrob Tursunov, Country Manager of Palladium – USAID Future Growth Initiative (FGI); Pulod Amirbekov, Country Director, Accelerate Prosperity Tajikistan; and Ozodamo Faromuz, HR and Talent Lead, Ilmhona Skills Accelerator.
During the session, it has been discussed how export-oriented IT has been developing in Tajikistan, and what could be done to help accelerate its growth. The speakers and participants also exchanged views on policy recommendations and strategies to help the country government, international development agencies and financial institutions, global and local IT players find the right tools for growing the export-oriented IT.
The event was attended by donors, international financial institutions, global development agencies, chambers of commerce of western European countries, local IT export-oriented product companies and IT developers.
