On April 22nd, Lika Merabishvili, Regional Director in the Caucasus at StrategEast, delivered opening remarks at the “Coding for 1500 Women” event in Tbilisi, hosted by the Business and Technology University (BTU) and funded by USAID. This initiative is a vital component of the USAID Industry-led Skills Development Program, aimed at increasing women’s participation in the IT sector.
In her address, Ms Merabishvili underscored the pivotal role of women in technology and highlighted the successful partnership projects between StrategEast and BTU. Titled “Pitch Yourself,” the event marked a significant milestone for participants, signifying the conclusion of the program’s second cohort. It provided a unique platform for aspiring female tech professionals to showcase their innovative projects and skills to peers and potential employers alike.
The “Coding School for 1500 Women” stands as a nationwide endeavor dedicated to empowering women through coding and technology education. Through collaborative efforts between BTU, industry partners, and with the support of USAID, this initiative seeks to narrow the gender gap in the tech industry and foster a more inclusive environment.
