On August 18, StrategEast participated in a webinar organized by CIPE Europe & Eurasia on the “Discussion of priorities in the development of e-commerce in Central Asian countries”. Rovshan Rahimov, Regional Director for Central Asia and Eastern Europe spoke about StrategEast’s experience and research on exports and strategies for growing the Central Asian IT sector; attractiveness for the potential US investors and methods to facilitate connections to the US and other international markets.
Other speakers included Aziza Shuzheeva, President of Techno Women, Founder of the Digital Transformation Public Foundation and Alua Korpebayeva, founder of Clever market in Kazakhstan; Aibek Kurenkeev, President of the E-Commerce Association in Kyrgyzstan; Firuz Zainidini, Head of the e-commerce department of CJSC Babilon Mobile in Tajikistan; Muzaffar A’zamov, Chairman of the Association of E-Commerce of Uzbekistan.The facilitator of the event was Camelia Bulat, Senior Expert at CIPE.
Among the main points of discussion were the barriers to e-commerce in Central Asia; the identification of priority areas for e-commerce development in the region for increasing its competitiveness in regional and international markets; constraints and opportunities to leverage investments and financing opportunities from the global e-commerce hubs to the region; developing connections with leading business associations to advance the competitiveness of e-commerce in Central Asia and in external markets.
Over 50 participants embraced prominent international experts on e-commerce, involving members of Program for Improving the Business Environment in Central Asian Countries (IBECA), and CIPE.
