Anatoly Motkin, President of StrategEast, met at the Islamic Development Bank headquarters in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia with Kadir Basboga, Senior at Country Strategy and Cooperation Department; Imed Drine, Lead Economist for MENA and Europe at the Bank and Syed Hassan Alsagoff, Manager of Science, Technology and Innovation Devision at Cooperation and Capacity Development Department.
Among the collaboration opportunities that have been discussed – joint regional projects in Central Asia aimed to scale up the knowledge driven economy in the region.
Anatoly has shared with the counterparts at the Islamic Development Bank the just published policy recommendations report for the Central Asia – “Billions at the distance”, supported by the USAID and EBRD and proposed to consider embedding the capacity building component in each tech related project implemented by the bank in the region.
The parties have also discussed the opportunities for collaboration between the Gulf states and Caucasus with Central Asia as a way for both beneficiary technological growth.
