StrategEast and Google accelerate AI acceptance at Google AI Academy Istanbul Summit.

On January 24-25, StrategEast, in collaboration with Google, organized the Google AI Academy Istanbul Summit, a flagship capacity-building seminar. The Google AI Academy serves as a premier platform for discussions with regulators and policymakers who shape the future of AI and technology regulation.

The event convened around 100 participants from Turkiye, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan. This international closed-door event featured experts from Google and distinguished partners. Tailored specifically for law makers and those involved into public dialogue, the Academy offered a unique opportunity for participants to interact with leading professionals, gain valuable insights on regulating and deploying AI, and exchange views on leveraging AI potential to address national economic priorities and establish meaningful connections.

Moderated by Anatoly Motkin, StrategEast President, a high-level plenary panel explored the theme of “AI Opportunity – What is at Stake?” The panel participants inlcuded Zafer Kucuksabanoglu, Director of AI Policies Association, Jumamudun Jumaliev, First Deputy Minister of Digital Development of the Kyrgyz Republic, Dinara Shcheglova, Vice-Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Olga Skorokhodova, Google GAPP Manager of CIS countries. During the panel the participants talked about national AI strategies and ways to leverage the technology, economic opportunities, and the role of the international community and private partners. The discussions covered a comprehensive agenda with questions on the current priorities of the governments of Turkiey, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan in the AI space; AI’s most significant impact in terms of economic and social transformation; top priorities in formulating national AI strategies, and others.

Representatives from various governmental bodies from Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan participated in the panel, including Avtandil Kasradze, Chairman of the Georgian Innovation and Technology Agency; Dinara Chsheglova, Vice-Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan; Jumamudun Jumaliev, First Deputy Minister of Digital Development of the Kyrgyz Republic, among others.
