Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Askar Mamin received Royal Dutch Shell’s Manager for International Exploration and Mining Andrew Brown, Executive Vice President of Deepwater Projects Wael Sawan, and Executive Vice President of Joint Ventures Gerald Schotman.
The parties reviewed a wide range of bilateral cooperation issues. Minister of Energy Kanat Bozumbayev took part in the discussion.
Andy Brown said that the company is interested in expanding its presence and deepening its participation in projects in Kazakhstan. The issues of joint development of Kashagan and Karachaganak fields, participation in the development of the Kalamkas and Khazar wells in the Zhemchuzhina section were considered.
A promising direction for the company is also the development of alternative energy sources. Royal Dutch Shell is working on a project to build a solar power plant in the city of Taraz.
The Head of the Government Askar Mamin noted that the company is among the major investors. Today, the country is strengthening measures to ensure a favorable environment for the conduct of investment projects and strengthened the mechanisms for protecting investors’ rights.
At the end of the meeting, the parties expressed their intention to expand areas of interaction and implement new joint projects.
