Anatoly Motkin took part in the meeting of the Commission on Digitalization chaired by the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, held on October 27, 2021 in Nur-Sultan.
Mr. Motkin devoted his speech to the large-scale expansion strategy of the Kazakh IT industry export segment, based on StrategEast’s experience in other Eurasian countries.
President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev paid great attention to the competitiveness of the Kazakh IT industry. According to Kazakh President’s speech, most of Kazakh IT companies are focused on the domestic market, meeting the demand of the state and quasi-state sectors.
“The export of IT solutions can and should become one of the most important areas of diversification of the domestic economy,” underlined Mr. Tokayev in his speech.
The President of Kazakhstan also drew attention to the quality of IT education, calling this issue “a national task”: I instruct the Government to consider the issue of attracting private IT schools to the mass training of IT personnel. Improving IT qualifications in public administration requires special attention. Civil servants should understand technological trends, be able to systematically analyze events and data. They should speak the same language with the IT business, – said Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
The speakers of the meeting also included Minister of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry of Kazakhstan Bagdat Musin; Senior Partner of McKinsey & Company Thomas Walter Isherwood; President of the Eurasian Regional Office of Huawei Daniel Zhou; and Chairman of the Board of JSC Kazakhtelecom Kuanyshbek Yessekeyev.
In conclusion, the President of Kazakhstan thanked all members of the Commission and invited experts for meaningful dialogue, expressing confidence that the participation of all stakeholders will bring the work of the Commission to a new level and ensure the digital transformation of Kazakhstan.
