Sherzod Shermatov, Minister for Development of Information Technologies and Communications of Uzbekistan opened StrategEast State and IT Eurasian Forum 2022 in Samarkand, Uzbekistan.
In his speech, the minister expressed confidence that Uzbekistan is ready to become the next trusted IT destination. The Minister mentioned several important factors: perfect legislation for IT development in place; IT companies in Uzbekistan are exempt from taxes; Uzbekistan has a young and rapidly growing population.
The country’s government has focused on teaching English to young people. At the same time, about 6 million people study at English language schools.
The country has prepared infrastructure for access to fast Internet. As a result, in three years the number of coders working in the export-oriented IT industry has grown 10 times.
The government of Uzbekistan plans to increase the export of the IT industry to $1 billion a year over the next 5 years.
At the end of his speech, the minister invited the Forum’s guests to open their IT business in Uzbekistan and, first of all, in Samarkand.
