The opening ceremony of the first dialysis center of Fresenius Medical Care Kyrgyzstan, a subsidiary of Fresenius Medical Care international company, will take place on October 17 in the city of Jalal-Abad, the Ministry of Health reported.
This is the first of 4 dialysis centers that will begin their work in Kyrgyzstan under a public-private partnership (PPP) agreement between Fresenius Medical Care and the Ministry of Health of Kyrgyzstan. The activities of these clinics will significantly improve the quality of medical care in Kyrgyzstan for patients with chronic renal insufficiency (CRI).
The opening ceremony of the Fresenius Medical Care dialysis center in Jalal-Abad will be attended by Deputy Minister of Health Madamin Karatayev, German Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan Monica Iversen, senior manager of the regional directorate of Fresenius Medical Care for Eastern Europe and Central Asia, and other distinguished guests.
Renal replacement therapy is, in addition to transplantation, the only possible method of treatment and survival of patients with chronic renal failure (CRF). The most common type of treatment for CRF is hemodialysis. This method allows to clean the blood of toxins and regulate the water-electrolyte and acid-base balance in the body of patients through the use of the “artificial kidney” apparatus. Dialysis helps to ensure a sufficiently high standard of living for patients with chronic renal failure.
The Fresenius Medical Care dialysis clinics in the Kyrgyz Republic are being opened in accordance with an agreement on the organization of dialysis services in Kyrgyzstan as part of a public-private partnership project. This agreement was signed in August 2017 between Fresenius Medical Care and the Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic. This is the first project implemented under the PPP mechanism in Kyrgyzstan: it was prepared with the financial support of KfW and consultation from the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group.
The activities of Fresenius Medical Care clinics in three cities (two in Bishkek and one in Osh and Jalal-Abad each) will significantly improve the quality of services provided to Kyrgyz citizens with chronic renal failure (CRF). Within the framework of the PPP project, more than 280 patients will receive treatment in the company’s clinics.
The opening of dialysis centers will ensure that patients with chronic renal failure receive affordable, timely and free medical care that meets the best European standards. The opening of dialysis centers will also result in about 100 jobs in Kyrgyzstan.
Fresenius Medical Care is the global leader in dialysis treatment, development and production of high-quality equipment and consumables for renal replacement therapy. Today, the company owns 3,815 dialysis clinics worldwide, where more than 320,000 patients receive treatment.
