IT Hub Azerbaijan project closing ceremony took place in Baku

The “IT Hub Azerbaijan” project, a collaborative effort between StrategEast, the Analytical and Coordination Center for the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4SIM), and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), has successfully concluded.

A closing ceremony commemorating the project’s completion was graced by esteemed guests, including the head of the Baku office of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the rector of the Baku Higher Oil School Elmar Gasimov, the executive director of 4SIM Fariz Jafarov, and the chairman of the Economic Policy Committee of the Milli Majlis Tahir Mirkishili.

Addressing the gathering at the ceremony, Anatoly Motkin, President of StrategEast, underscored the project’s unique mission to democratize access to IT opportunities beyond the capital city of Baku. Mr. Motkin emphasized the program’s focus on nurturing a diverse professional community and providing equal opportunities for individuals across Azerbaijan who aspire to join the technology sector.

Mr. Motkin highlighted the project’s broader impact, stating that each IT professional indirectly generates four to five additional jobs in various sectors, showcasing the technology sector’s pivotal role in driving economic growth and innovation. He also emphasized the global ambitions of Azerbaijani IT professionals, noting that geographical barriers are diminishing in the digital era, allowing local talents to compete on the international stage.

As part of the project, 85 individuals aged 19-30 from various regions across Azerbaijan, including Ganja, Sumgayit, Lankaran, Mingachevir, Shirvan, and Nakhchivan, participated in free IT training. International experts conducted online classes covering computer science, programming, and business analysis. Graduates of the program are poised to contribute to the local and international IT landscape, with employment opportunities awaiting them in both local and foreign companies operating in Azerbaijan.
