The German government will stipulate €16.5 million, in form of a grant, for implementation of a project to improve the water infrastructure in the central area of Moldova. The programme provides for construction of the Chisinau-Straseni-Calarasi magistrate pipeline in 2019.
“It is a substantial support from development partners. This project will allow us to provide population of the region with drinking water, quantitatively and qualitatively, thus improving health and living conditions of people,” said Valentina Tapis, State Secretary at the Ministry of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment (MADRM).
According to Valentina Tapis, water resources are limited in many regions of Moldova. “related to it, the mentioned project is of strategic importance for communities in Straseni and Calarasi districts. Similalrly, expansion of centralised water supply systems and increased access of population to these services is recognised in the National Strategy for Water Supply and Sanitation as a key objective of field development,” said State Secretary of MADRM.
Project “Improvement of water infrastructure in Central Moldova” is financed by the German Federal Government through KfW development bank. The first stage of project envisages construction of the Chisinau – Straseni – Calarasi magistrate pipeline. For this, the German Government made an investment commitment of €16.5 million as a grant.
The project implementation period is 2019 – 2024, including construction of watersupply pipeline (300 – 1000 mm) which will supply drinking water from Chisinau branch to Straseni and Calarasi districts, with subsequent connection of localities from mentioned districts.
