Sulkhan Zumburidze, head of the board of managers of Georgian State Electrosystem (GSE) and Olaf Simelka, director of the Caucasus representation of Reconstruction Credit Institute of Germany (KfW), have signed a grant agreement.
The grant amount is 460 000 EUR that the Government of Germany has approved as part of energy sector open program.
The grant will be spent on additional research of environmental and social issues as part of KfW-funded projects.
The KfW-funded electricity network expansion open program comprises a development of electricity transmission network through construction-rehabilitation of transmission lines and substations in various regions of Georgia to make the energy supply more reliable and to foster an implementation of exports-imports.
The active phase of the project will start in 2019, while main works will end in 2020-2021.
