The State Committee for Urban Planning & Architecture has summed up the results of an open tender procedure on the selection of international urban design company and launched the second stage of the process of making the Baku City Master Plan.
The Committee informs that a reputable German company has become the winner of the tender for Baku Master Plan maker in compliance with the decision of the tender commission, consisting of representatives of SCUPA, relevant governmental agencies, and public figures.
“Frankfurt-based AS+P is leading international urban planning and architectural company. The German company was founded in 1964 and to date has implemented more than 2,000 successful projects around the world. Its project portfolio includes preparation of territorial planning documents for such well-known cities as Munich, Cologne and Frankfurt, Cairo and Alexandria, Zurich, Tbilisi, Shanghai, Moscow, Istanbul, and many others,” the Committee reported.
In collaboration with AS+P, the SCUPA transfers to the fulfillment of the 2nd phase of making the Baku City Master Plan.
“The work to be conducted at this stage will be based on the development priorities defined within the Baku City Concept prepared by the Committee with the participation of international company Boston Consulting Group during the 1st phase. At the 2nd stage of the Master Plan project, technical work relating to strategic and multi-level territorial planning and modeling of city development on the key parameters will be conducted. A range of programs in relevant directions with various levels of detailing will be made within the forthcoming integrated work,” the Committee said.
Completion of the work over the Baku City Master Plan is scheduled for the end of 2020. After that, the final draft of the document will be submitted for approval to the government of Azerbaijan.
