Engie, the French multinational energy group, is ready to assist Ukraine in developing its gas and oil sector. According to the government’s press service, this agreement was achieved during a meeting of Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman with Engie CEO Isabelle Kocher.
“The oil and gas sector was completely closed for a long time (for investors and partner companies). After changing the state policy and introducing new technological and innovative solutions, we managed to change the trend. And our task today is to turn Ukraine from an importing country to an energy independent country. To do this, we need to be more open, change the regulatory system, and attract investments and technology,” said Groysman.
He welcomed the Engie’s decision to assist Ukraine in developing its oil and gas sector, and agreed with Isabelle Kocher that ensuring the state’s own energy resources is the issue of energy security. Representatives of the French company confirmed their readiness to contribute to the development of the oil and gas sector in Ukraine.
