CIFAL (France) is ready to help Uzbekistan in development of nuclear energy. This was reported by the Takhlilnoma programme of TV channel “Uzbekistan 24”.
The company noted that it is ready to provide its know-how and experience for training specialists of Uzbekistan in the field of nuclear energy.
CIFAL said that it plans to assist the agency “Uzatom” in carrying out technical, commercial and financial negotiations with the Russian state corporation “Rosatom” for construction of a nuclear power plant in Uzbekistan.
The French company is also ready to assist in selection of equipment for construction and launch of nuclear power plants. The company said that it can take part in solving the issues of financing the project in agreement with the Uzbek and Russian sides.
In July 2018, the President of Uzbekistan stated that Uzbekistan and the state corporation Rosatom had agreed to build a nuclear power plant in the republic.
The nuclear power plant will consist of two power units with a capacity of 1,200 megawatts each. The safest and modern power unit in the world is allocated for construction of the nuclear power plant. Its commissioning is planned by 2028.
Currently, the need for electricity in Uzbekistan is 69 billion kW / h. Almost 85 percent of this energy is produced by burning gas and coal, the remaining 15 percent are produced by hydroelectric power plants. To generate electric power, 16.5 billion cubic meters of natural gas, 86,000 tonnes of fuel oil and 2.3 million tonnes of coal are consumed.
