The first shipment of US anthracite coal to Ukraine – 62.000 tons is now heading from the US port Baltimore to Odessa. It is expected to arrive in Odessa’s Yuzhnyy port in three weeks. The Ukrainian Ambassador, Valeriy Chali, attended the ceremony of coal carrier sailing off from the Baltimore port.
Pennsylvania-based XCoal Energy and Resources signed a contract with Ukrainian state energy company Centerenergo on July 31, guaranteeing the provision of 700,000 tons of anthracite coal in the next few months. The deal followed talks by Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko’s with US President Donald J. Trump’s administration in June.
