EU’s Erasmus+ program supports opening of innovation laboratory in Ukraine

A “FabLab” laboratory was recently opened on the premises of the Centre for 3D Technologies at the National Technical University in the Ukrainian city of Ternopil.

Supported within the EU-funded Erasmus+ programme, the new laboratory will create conditions for innovation and creativity in engineering which, in the longer term, will positively affect students’ employability.

The FabLab will improve interaction between the university and industrial enterprises. It should also improve the quality of education and teach graduate and post-graduate students the engineering fundamentals of 3D modelling, prototyping and printing. The laboratory shall become an integral part of the university’s innovative infrastructure.

FabLab is a broad movement, better known as “open laboratories”. These open spaces are created by different communities, united around common values and the sharing of knowledge, ideas and practices. Their creation is followed by the rapid development of new production technologies, which are actively implemented.
