EU-Ukraine economic cooperation gains pace, showing 29% bilateral trade growth

Ukraine and the EU increased the volume of the bilateral trade by 29%. Volodymyr Groysman, the Prime Minister of Ukraine claimed this at the briefing on the results of the meeting with Federica Mogherini, the EU High Representative for Common Affairs and Security Policy.

Groysman claimed that the economic cooperation between Ukraine and the EU gains the momentum.

‘Our economic cooperation gains the momentum. There is 29% of the growth of the bilateral trade. We determined the further cooperation for the next years, the steps to continue the reforms that will allow our citizens to feel the changes for better’, Groysman claimed.

Mogherini also noted the presence of the results of the bilateral cooperation of Ukraine and the EU, including the economic sphere.

‘We emphasized that this year is the year of the entering into the force of our agreement and visa-free regime. We see that the results show us that if we closely cooperate then we see the particular results for our citizens, economy because the volume of the trade between Ukraine and the EU increased. It is a real measure of the implementation for the citizens’, she noted.

Mogherini also noted that the Ukrainian authorities should make the significant efforts in the fight against the corruption.

‘There is a lot of work left to do: the fight against corruption and there should be more results. We emphasized that we are the friends and the partners in this issue and we are ready to support Ukraine’, she concluded.
