EU to fund Georgia’s Kutaisi airport cargo terminal construction by €61.5 million

A cargo terminal will be constructed at Kutaisi International Airport as part of the Trans-European Transport Network investment action plan . Under this program, EU will fund the cargo terminal construction by 61.5 million EUR.

It is noteworthy that the new passenger terminal construction works are underway at Kutaisi International airport and the works will be finished in 2019. The project budget is 60 million GEL. 

Currently, Kutaisi Airport serves 300 passengers an hour, while after the new terminal construction, the airport will have 7 exits and the airport will be able to serve 1000-1100 passengers an hour and handle 7 flights simultaneously. The space of the new terminal is 24 176 square meters and the renewed terminal will be three times bigger. The construction works will be performed by Anagi company. 

It should be noted that under the Trans-European Transport Network investment action plan, the European Commission will fund Georgia and other countries of Eastern Partnership by 12.8 billion EUR to construct 48 000 kilometer highways and railroad, 6 seaports and 11 logistics centers.

Under the investment plan, 18 priority projects will be financed in Georgia and their approximate value is 3.4 billion EUR. Six ones will be finished in 2020 and their total value makes up 1.3 billion EUR, while the remaining projects will be finished by 2030.
