New energy efficient street lighting is being installed in Polack, Belarus, as part of the EU4Energy initiative “Covenant of Mayors – Demonstration Projects”. The project, “Energy Efficient Modernization of Public Lighting in the City of Polack”, was carried out under the “PubLiCity” initiative implemented by the Polotsk District Executive Committee and the Interakcia Foundation, with financial support from the European Union.
Very soon, Polack will become the first town in Belarus with public lighting that fully corresponds to the EU standards, ensuring more comfortable living conditions for the local residents and allowing the city to save money.
For the moment, 1,386 LED lamps of the planned 1,558 were installed throughout the city together with 208 new lamp posts and 31 km of self-driving isolated wires. Almost all the works on decorative lighting have been completed, with 23 out of 26 decorative lights now fully equipped with the new energy efficient lamps.
