EU to provide over €260 thousand to young entrepreneurs in Moldova, Ukraine under Joint Opportunities in Busiess for Youth program

The European Union will provide €263,000 to start a business for young people from Moldova and Ukraine. Sixty young persons from Moldova and Ukraine, aged 18 – 35, will be supported in innovative business start – ups with a strong social and economic cross – border impacts within framework of Moldova – Ukraine cross – border cooperation programme: Joint Opportunities in Busiess for Youth, which was launched in Chisinau today.

“The Government of Moldova supports promotion of young people in business through a range of policies and strategies, including National Strategy: Moldova 2020 and Development Strategy of Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) for 2012 – 2020. The project launched today completes action plan of Government, including the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure (MEI), on supporting entrepreneurship among young people,” said Secretary General of State at MEI, Iulia Costin, during the programme launch.

The cross – border project: Joint Opportunities in Busiess for Youth is funded by EU and will be implemented by SME Development Organisation (ODIMM) in partnership with the Youth Public Organisation: New Generation of Europe in Ukraine.

“The project launched today will encourage and support young potential entrepreneurs to initiate and develop viable and value – added businesses, aiming to provide support for economies of both countries. From the point of view of Moldovan – Ukrainian relations, it offers a unique opportunity for our young people to get to know each other better, exchange experience and lay the foundation for sustainable business partnerships,” said the Secretary General of State.

Similalrly, Iulia Costin said that young entrepreneurs have been facing more problems due to lack of entrepreneurial knowledge and have had to be helped in developing planning, launching and managing business skills. Referred to it, MEI and ODIMM developed: START for YOUTHS: A Sustainable Home Business Programme for 2018 – 2020, as to be approved by Government. It will help in supporting business managed by young people through facilitating launch and development of sustainable businesses.

The cross – border project: Joint Opportunities in Busiess for Youth will last 14 months. The young people from Moldova and Ukraine will be trained and encouraged to participate at Seed Forums within it. There will also be set on – line help and consultation platform for writing a business plan.
