It will be provided almost €11.6 million by EU for water supply, sewerage and energy efficiency projects in the North Development Region (RDN). The money will be allocated until 2020, when the programmes are to be implemented.
Four water supply and sanitation projects, worth over €9 million, will be implemented in Edinet, Falesti and Drochia, as well as in villages Pascauti, Damascani, Proscurini, Galaseni, Malaiesti and Hiliuti in Rascani district. Two energy efficiency projects, worth about €2.5 million, will be implemented in Balti municipality and in village Famamaneni, Singerei district.
The works are part of a large scale project, implemented in cooperation with project: Modernizing local public services in Moldova, implemented by the International Cooperation Agency of Germany (ICAG) in partnership with Ministry of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment (MADRM) and financially supported by German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, Government of Sweden, Government of Romania and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation.
Interviewed by agency, director of the North Regional Development Agency (ADR Nord), Vitali Povonschi, said that the support is substantial for the northern localities.
“Water provision and sewerage, energy efficiency of public buildings remain priority sectors for North Region. But with the support of development partners, we will be able to build new aqueduct networks, and be able to expand existing ones in some localities. Similarly, energy efficiency will allow for considerable budget savings as well as CO2 emissions reduction,” said Povonschi.
According to director of ADR North, as a result of the aforementioned projects, over 70,000 citizens from northern area will be able to improve their living conditions and quality of life.
