EU helps improve cross-border cooperation between Poland, Belarus and Ukraine in the Carpathian region

On 8 June, the EU-funded Poland-Belarus-Ukraine Cross-border Cooperation (CBC) Programme organised a conference in the Ukrainian city of Uzhhorod on CBC cooperation in the Carpathian mountains region. The event was held on the occasion of the 15th anniversary of cooperation between Poland, Belarus and Ukraine through the EU programme.

The event discussed the achievements of the CBC Programme in the Carpathians and how to ensure sustainable development in the region. It was noted that coherent cooperation between public authorities, local government institutions, non-governmental organisations and individual citizens from the three countries brings very positive results.

A concert entitled “Cross-border Melodies” was organised in the framework of the conference and took place in the evening as part of “Karpaty Fest”.

The Poland-Belarus-Ukraine Cross-border Cooperation Programme supports cross-border development processes in the bordering regions of Poland, Belarus and Ukraine. In the period 2014-2020, the programme focuses on the promotion of economic and social development and addresses common challenges in environment, public health, safety and security. It also works to promote better conditions and modalities for better mobility of persons, goods and capital.
