EU helps Georgia to develop and implement new electricity market model

European Union experts Märt Ots and Andrius Šimkus will be visiting Georgia on 4–6 December. The aim of the expert mission is to provide advice on the implementation of an appropriate competitive market for electricity in Georgia, taking into account the third EU Energy Package.

The experts will meet with Georgian national authorities and provide guidance on the effective governance of the electricity sector. The mission will also include a discussion on the Georgian draft legislation on electricity markets, particularly with respect to competitive electricity markets and EU best practice.
