EU and EBRD to provide 5 Ukrainian cities €170,000 under Climate Innovation Vouchers Program

Five Ukrainian companies have been selected by the Climate Innovation Vouchers Program, a joint programme of the European Union (EU) and the European Bank of Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), to develop technologies aiming at increasing energy efficiency and reducing CO2 emissions. The total funding amounts to €170,000.

Among the recipients of the vouchers were companies developing technologies such as solar-powered, 3D-printed smart houses, low-noise wind generators suitable for cities and roofs of buildings, and eco-friendly aquaponics systems.

Berend de Groot, Head of Cooperation at the EU Delegation to Ukraine, said at the award ceremony that the Climate Innovation Vouchers are instrumental to identifying and supporting the most promising and innovative energy and clean technology companies, who will be able to use the funding to speed up their growth. This will in turn contribute directly to climate action, in line with our Paris commitments.

The Climate Innovation Vouchers Program is implemented in Ukraine by the EBRD under the FINTECC program. It is financed by the European Union, and the NGO ‘Greencubator’ is in charge of implementation and administration. Within the framework of the Climate Innovation Vouchers Program, it is planned to fund around 50 Ukrainian companies that implement innovative technologies.
