EBRD invested over €1 billion in Ukrainian economy in 2019

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has already invested more than EUR 1 billion in the Ukrainian economy in the current year.

This issue was discussed during a meeting between Finance Minister Oksana Markarova and EBRD President Suma Chakrabarti in Washington, the Finance Ministry’s press service reported.

“Despite forecasts that global economic growth will slow, Ukraine intends to be among the countries that will manage to show economic growth. And the ongoing assistance and support of foreign partners such as the EBRD, the IMF and the World Bank make this goal realistic,” Oksana Markarova said.

According to Suma Chakrabarti, the bank intends to continue maintaining its investment rate in Ukraine at the level of 2019.

The EBRD’s portfolio in Ukraine (the total amount of open projects) at present is EUR 3.86 billion; operating assets (selected funds for open projects) amount to EUR 2.08 billion.

The EBRD has been operating in Ukraine since 1992. During this time, the bank invested about EUR 14.6 billion in the Ukrainian economy, having financed 450 projects. The private sector accounts for 75% of this investment.
