EBRD interested in modernization of the Uzbekistan’s gas transmission system

Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan – Chairman of the Board of Uzbekneftegaz Alisher Sultanov met with the President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Suma Chakrabarti. This was reported by the press service of Uzbekneftegaz.

The head of the EBRD noted that President Shavkat Mirziyoyev is carrying out large-scale reforms, including in domestic and foreign policy, economy and other spheres in Uzbekistan.

He stressed that the visit to our country will contribute to the preparation by the bank of its new medium-term strategy in Uzbekistan, aimed at supporting the attracting of new EBRD investments to the country and carrying out key reforms by the government.

The head of the EBRD expressed the Bank’s high interest in participating in the financing of the Program of Technical Re-equipment, Modernization and Development of the Gas Transmission System of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

An agreement was reached to provide the EBRD with proposals for implementation of the program in the near future, including the determination of the preliminary amount of financing and indicative conditions.
