The agribusiness industry in Belarus and markets in the Commonwealth of Independent States will benefit from the expansion of PTUE SARIA, a company specialized in the manufacturing of products that have animal by-products as main raw material.
A six-year loan of €17 million provided by the EBRD will help PTUE SARIA expand and specialize its production capacities in the Brest region of Belarus. The investment also will address the working capital needs of the national SARIA subsidiary and allow increasing its water treatment facility.
The production of animal proteins, a safe and sustainable source of protein for pets and animals, as well as animal fat for cosmetic, pharmaceutical and other industries will stimulate the deep and specialized processing of raw materials of animal origin.
PTUE SARIA is part of the SARIA Group, a leading international producer of products for human consumption, animal nutrition, aquaculture, pharmaceutical, and industrial applications and for the agricultural sector. SARIA also generates renewable energy such as biodiesel and biogas and provides services for the agricultural sector and the food industry. The Group employs 11,000 people around the globe at more than 200 sites across 23 countries.
The investment will support PTUE SARIA in achieving EU compliance for most of its products by 2021, which will stimulate their export to the EU single market.
Since the start of its operations in Belarus in 1992, the EBRD has invested almost €2.46 billion in 114 projects in various sectors of the country’s economy.
