Dutch group of experts to work out strategy of waste management in Moldova’s district

A local strategy and an action plan will be worked out for a functional waste management service in the eastern Anenii Noi district. The project will be carried out by a group of experts from the Netherlands, who have recently visited the Centre Development Region of Moldova.

As a result of the cooperation of Dutch specialists and local authorities from the Anenii Noi district, a programme will be elaborated, which provides for the creation of three micro-zones of solid waste management. These micro-zones will provide a stable public service in all 25 settlements of the district.

“At different levels, people discuss about the need of efficient actions to protect the environment. Only the ecologic measures should begin from the home. We rely a lot on this strategic plan, which will considerably improve the management of solid waste in the settlement and with this, – the people’s living standards,” the mayor of the Telita village, Anenii Noi district, Rodica Russu, has told MOLDPRES.

The visit by Dutch experts to Moldova is part of the pan-European CONNECT Initiative. The programme provides expertise in diverse fields for about 100,000 municipalities from the member countries of the European Union, as well as outside the latter.
