E-Zhasyl LLP, founded by a consortium of Spanish companies GruppoAnka, ftE and SoroznoEco, has started a series of projects on construction of waste recycling facilities with energy production in Kazakhstan. The total cost of the projects is 147 million euros.
Kazakh Invest has provided comprehensive support to Spanish investors. During four months, Kazakh Invest selected 3 partners among domestic companies in three different regions of the country. In order to successfully implement the projects, meetings were organized with representatives of local executive bodies in Astana, Shymkent, Zhezkazgan, Atyrau, Kyzylorda, as well as in Almaty and Akmola regions. During the meetings, the investor presented the technology of waste processing — “meriolis”, which has been used successfully in more than 40 similar facilities around the world.
Also, the investors met with Gabidolla Abrakhimov, the Akim (Mayor) of Shymkent city, to discuss the construction of a biogas plant for the production of electricity through recycling of solid waste. The mayor spoke about the importance of the project for Shymkent, the third-largest city in Kazakhstan, and instructed to search for a land plot for the biogas plant construction.
The Spanish investors started their investment activities in Kazakhstan with the construction of a solid waste disposal plant in Zhezkazgan. Kaz Green Energy LLP became a domestic partner of the Spanish investors. The production capacity will be 110 thousand tons of recycled waste annually. Start of construction and installation works on the first project is scheduled for the first half of 2019.
The next project of the Spanish investors will be a waste recycling plant in Shymkent. It is planned that the annual volume of waste recycling will be more than 200 thousand tons.
