Canada-based SkyPower Global to invest $1.3 billion in solar power stations in Uzbekistan

SkyPower Global will hold a specialized job fair in Tashkent to select project personnel for local office within the part of implementation of the first stage of long term cooperation with the Government of Uzbekistan and Uzbekenergo.

SkyPower Global will invest up to US$1.3 billion to implement a project on construction of solar power stations in Uzbekistan with total capacity of 1000 megawatts. Uzbekistan will purchase electricity produced by these stations.

Solar stations in Samarkand, Jizzakh, Navoi, Sukhandarya, Kashkadarya and Tashkent regions will allow to generate up to 10% of electricity, produced in Uzbekistan.

This will help the country meet the requirements of the Paris Climate Agreement by 2030 and provide the population with electricity.

According to preliminary estimates, the project will contribute to Uzbekistan’s GDP of US$2.9 billion, creating thousands of jobs.
