The British company Acumen Education intends to open a network of accessible private schools, as well as a premium school in Uzbekistan with participation of the investment company MBU Capital, the press service of the Ministry of Public Education said.
On 21 January 2019, a delegation of Acumen Education and MBU Capital arrived in Uzbekistan to study the field of education and local conditions. The delegation included the founder, executive director and chief investment specialist of MBU Capital, Mohammed Iqbal, and executive director of Acumen Education, Mark Labovich.
On 21 January, Deputy Minister of Public Education of Uzbekistan Atabek Nazirov received a delegation of British companies to discuss plans for Acumen Education and MBU Capital to open educational institutions in Uzbekistan.
Representatives of British companies stressed that they are now considering investing in the creation of a network of affordable private schools, premium-class schools and the opening of a foreign university in Uzbekistan.
During the meeting, the guests were familiarized with the public education system, priority areas for development of school education, and possible models of cooperation with British companies to launch affordable private schools in Uzbekistan.
Atabek Nazirov stressed that the Ministry of Public Education of Uzbekistan is ready to support Acumen Education and MBU Capital in implementation of this project and in obtaining the necessary data on the education sector of Uzbekistan.
It should be underlined that the visit of the delegation of Acumen Education and MBU Capital will last until 26 January 2019. The delegation will hold meetings and negotiations in the state bodies of Uzbekistan and financial institutions, as well as visit a number of schools in Tashkent and Samarkand.
