Bilateral Kazakhstan-UK trade reaches $1.3 billion in 2017

Vice Minister for Investments and Development of Kazakhstan Arystan Kabikenov met with UK Ambassador Michael Gifford to discuss prospects of cooperation in trade, investments, transport and transit, mining and metallurgy.

The UK is among strategic partners and biggest investors of Kazakhstan, Arystan Kabikenov said. He took a note of growing exports and suggested to further bolster business ties.

Ambassador Michael Gifford underlined importance of broadening of relations through organization of bilateral and multilateral events, including as part of China’s One Belt One Road Initiative.

The sides discussed implementation of joint projects in mining, transport, industry, expressed interest in holding the events planned for 2018.

Bilateral trade of Kazakhstan and the UK amounted to $1.286 billion in 2017, which is for 1.9% more than in 2016 ($1.262 billion).

Export from Kazakhstan to the UK in 2017 grew by 4.2% to make $926.8 million.
