Bilateral negotiations between the EU and Belarus on its accession to the World Trade Organization in part of commodity terms of trade have entered the final stage, trade officer of the EU Mission to the WTO Marie-Pierre Nicora said at a meeting with experts and journalists.
“I can announce the final stage of the bilateral negotiations on the terms of merchandise trade between Belarus and the European Union on the country’s accession to the World Trade Organization,” Marie-Pierre Nicora said. She noted that, in general, these bilateral negotiations were not only about trade but also about services.
Marie-Pierre Nicora added that Belarus is yet to solve a number of issues in trade on its way to the WTO. “On the part of Belarus, there is an initiative to speed up the WTO accession process,” the trade officer said.
The meeting took place at the headquarters of the European Union Permanent Mission to the WTO in Geneva as part of the Dialogue Program organized by the Konrad Adenauer Foundation.
