Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) signed a protocol on intentions in environmental protection in Baku March 6.
The document was signed by Head of SOCAR Rovnag Abdullayev and UN Resident Coordinator in Azerbaijan Ghulam Isaczai.
The protocol was signed to continue cooperation in ecology sector between SOCAR and the UN within the NAMA program, being implemented since 2015 and covering the issues of reducing carbon emissions.
SOCAR is implementing the NAMA project jointly with the Global Environment Facility and UNDP in three directions, namely, an improvement of energy efficiency in buildings, switch to alternative fuel and the accumulation of associated gas in oil wells. The project will be completed in 2020.
