Anatoly Motkin moderated panel on Emerging Tech Hub in Eurasia at COMEX IT Show in Oman

On May 28, Anatoly Motkin, President of StrategEast, moderated a panel discussion titled “The Emerging Tech Hub in Eurasia” at the COMEX IT show in Oman. The panel focused on the transformative potential of strategic partnerships between Central Asian and Caucasus nations and their counterparts in the Gulf, particularly Oman.

The participation of the Central Asian countries in COMEX, the prime digital event in Oman, including the country booths and match-making activities were supported by the USAID Future Growth Initiative.

The discussion explored how these collaborations can shape regional IT ecosystems and impact the global knowledge-driven economy. It aimed to provide actionable insights on creating beneficial partnerships to drive IT development and establish a competitive, profitable technology hub benefiting all regions involved.

Panelists included Daniel Eshmatov, Deputy Director and Chief Information Officer at the state enterprise “Infocom” under the Ministry of Digital Development of the Kyrgyz Republic; and Jazira Zhynusova, Head Manager of the Product Promotion Department at JSC “National Information Technologies” under the Ministry of Digitalization of the Republic of Kazakhstan; and Tornike Jobava, Deputy Chairman of GITA (The Georgian Agency for Innovation and Technology).

Key discussion points covered strategic partnerships to develop a technological hub in Eurasia, the collaborative approach needed to integrate IT sectors across Central Asia, the Caucasus, and the Gulf, and the critical role of IT education. The panel also emphasized the importance of universities in nurturing talent and the potential for revolutionizing the IT landscape through a unified digital market. Additionally, the benefits for Gulf companies in accessing the talent pool from Central Asia and the Caucasus were highlighted.
